A 26-year-old thug has been fined for attacking his ex-girlfriend and smashing her mobile phone in a late-night row.
Dean Collier had argued with beauty queen girlfriend Karys McHattie over who had the most bed sheets but the court heard the row 'boiled over'.
Collier was fined £400 after he admitted assaulting his partner before hurling her mobile phone away and smashing the screen.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that the couple had split as a result of the incident and Collier said he had "no intention" of speaking to the 2020 Miss Teen Saltire again.
Fiscal depute Stuart Hamilton told the court: "There was an argument about who had the most bed sheets, the covers. It boiled over and he pushed her.
"She fell out of the bed onto the floor. She got up and began filming the accused with her mobile phone, which caused the accused to become enraged.
"He grabbed the phone and threw it downstairs. That caused the screen to break away from the body of the phone. Miss McHattie called the police from the landline.
"Officers traced the accused walking in Perth Road, Scone, coming from the direction of the house. It was in the region of 20 past midnight. He was arrested.
"Police spoke with the complainer and she was extremely upset, crying repeatedly throughout the conversation. She did not have any injuries."
Collier, from Dundee, admitted assaulting Karys McHattie by pushing her on the body at an address in Myrtle Road, Scone, on 5 January this year.
He also admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and acting aggressively and throwing a mobile phone and damaging it.
Collier, representing himself, said: "I don't really have anything to say. I had not been feeling well as I had got my Covid jag and I wanted to sleep.
