Scots are set for another round of RMT rail strike action this weekend, which will see services heavily reduced as workers walk out as part of an ongoing pay dispute.
There are two separate strikes taking place; a Network Rail strike on Saturday, October 8, and a ScotRail strike on Monday, October 10. While services will be significantly reduced during both walkouts, the ScotRail strikes on Monday will see "a very limited number of services" running.
Speaking about the strikes taking place on Saturday, Mick Lynch, the general secretary of the RMT, said: “We will continue to negotiate in good faith, but the employers and government need to understand our industrial campaign will continue for as long as it takes.”
As for the strikes taking place on Monday, Mr Lynch said: "ScotRail knows this offer is not good enough and needs to take into account the escalating cost of living crisis. Our members refuse to be made poorer and will exercise their industrial strength to let ScotRail know that they will not rest until they are paid what they deserve."
Mick Hogg, RMT Scottish organiser, told the PA News Agency: “The five percent goes no where near the cost of living crisis and constitutes a pay cut, not acceptable to RMT members. Enough is enough. RMT members are not prepared to sit back and watch the bosses get richer at the expense of the workers who deliver for ScotRail…the 5% is a kick in the teeth, therefore we want more.
“If we don’t get more we will strike until we win or until someone says, ‘if it’s good enough for the bosses it’s good enough for the workers’.”
Many Scots will want to know how these strikes could impact them, as ScotRail has said that there will be "significant disruptions". Here is everything that you

For many couples, marriage is a step in their relationship that follows several months, or often years, of dating before deciding to take the plunge and tie the knot. For Meghan Markle it took a year of dating Prince Harry to realise he was “the one” she wanted to spend the rest of her life with; while Prince William and Kate Middleton enjoyed an eight-year courtship before saying “I do.” However, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland defied convention and married Meghan’s father Thomas Markle after a whirlwind romance lasting just a few short months together - much to the surprise of her family.

Katie Reul editor Anna Sorokin, the ex-con-artist who inspired the Netflix series “Inventing Anna,” discussed her oncoming legal battle against potential deportation in her first interview since her release from prison on Oct. 8. Speaking with the New York Times, Sorokin asserted that she is regretful of her criminal actions, which involved swindling the upper echelons of Manhattan by posing as an heiress under the name “Anna Delvey.” “I learned so much being in jail,” Sorokin said. “There’s a very well-documented arc about how I’ve felt about everything. It wouldn’t be right if I were just to switch in one day. That would be very disingenuous. It’s a process. I am regretful about the way things played out. The way I’ve tried to see my experience is to learn from it: Who I am today is because of the decisions I made in the past.”
Note: The following contains spoilers for Catherine Called Birdy.Director Lena Dunham described Karen Cushman’s “Catherine Called Birdy” as a work ingrained in her DNA with a world easy to bring to the screen and populate, but she did want to give the story a more hopeful ending.Dunham’s film follows Cushman’s story pretty closely, which focuses on young Lady Catherine, who goes by Birdy (Bella Ramsey), daughter of Lord Rollo (Andrew Scott) and Lady Aislinn (Billie Piper). Birdy’s impending arranged marriage to some random stranger drives the film’s plot, as she does everything humanly possible to turn off her suitors. “The last act shifts pretty significantly from the book, and that just had to do with a real desire to be able to leave Birdy’s character in a better place than we found her,” Dunham said in a recent interview with TheWrap.
