Scots cops were left shocked when they stopped an alleged drunk driver and discovered he had false registration plates while towing a stolen vehicle.
Officers made the startling discovery on Sunday night on the A89 trunk road in West Lothian. After stopping the man driving a Ford Transit, they soon discovered he was uninsured and the van was displaying false registration plates.
Upon further inspection they next learned the Fiesta ST the man was towing appeared to have been stolen from a nearby location "moments earlier".
Cops say the man was detained and is due to appear at court. Road Policing Scotland tweeted about the incident and shared pictures of their find.
One image shows the Transit sandwiched between two police cars, with the Fiesta on the back, while officers can be seen taking details.
The tweet said: "Last night Livingston Road Police and Bathgate officers stopped this Ford Transit on the A89.
"The Transit was displaying false registration plates and was carrying a Fiesta ST that had been stolen moments earlier in Bathgate.
"The driver was also drunk & uninsured!
"Arrested and held for court."
