A Scots dad says his family is distraught over the news that their much-loved dog may be banned.
Dillan Neil, 26, from Aberdeen, who owns a two-and-a-half-year-old American XL Bully called Roxy, says there has not been a hint of aggression from his pet who he described as 'a member of the family'.
The pet was bought by Dillan and his partner Beth during lockdown and is much-loved by his two sons, seven and two, and seven-year-old step-daughter, reports Aberdeen Live.
The family's world was turned upside down last week when Prime Minister Rishi Sunak pledged to outlaw the controversial breed 'by the end of the year'. It came after a spate of high-profile incidents involving the dogs, including the death of a 52-year-old man.
Dillan has now organised a protest in Aberdeen for those who are opposed to the ban at the end of the month.
He told Aberdeen Live he initially had no plans to buy a dog, but that when the children met Roxy it was love at first sight.
He said: "One of my good pals had puppies and I told him 'no', honestly about 100 times. He'd ask me 'do you want to have first pick of the litter' and I told him 'no, I don't want a dog'. I just didn't really feel it was the time.
"Then he invited me round to his house and I took the kids round to see his puppies and we all just instantly fell in love with the dog who we eventually called Roxy.
"From there, we've never really looked back. We don't really see her as a dog, we see her more as a member of the family.
"It's two-and-a-half years I've had her and there hasn't been a single sign of aggression. I used to take her out and get quite a lot of funny looks and I suppose the last few days it's been a little bit worse.
"But if you ever take a dog over to Roxy, she's really
