video on TikTok, which has garnered 4.1 million views and 464,400 likes.Turns out, a small batch of the vinyl LPs were “incorrectly pressed.” Fans who’d purchased the duds got quite the scare when they heard British electronica rather than the hits of the 33-year-old singer-songwriter.And, in a darker twist, lyrics about “flakes of flesh” and “endless rows of sardines” accompanied the music.“At first, I thought maybe the vinyl had a secret message from Taylor. But when I flipped to the B-side, it started saying ‘There’s 70 billion people on earth, where are they hiding?’ I started to get a little scared,” TikToker Rachel Hunter — @mischief_marauder on TikTok — told the BBC.
Thania Garcia Upon receiving their vinyl records for Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” a select number of Swifties were treated to the sounds of British electronica instead of the country-pop flair of Taylor Swift. A mis-pressed version of the vinyl was brought to light by a viral TikTok posted by user @myschief_marauder. “Does anyone else’s ‘Speak Now’ vinyl not have Taylor Swift on it?” she asks in her video before proceeding to spin the record’s “Side A.” Instead of hearing “Taylor’s Version,” Cabaret Voltaire’s “Soul Vine (70 Billion People)” plays. On Wednesday, Universal Music Group (home to Swift’s label Republic Records) confirmed an “extremely limited” number of “Speak Now” vinyl copies had been mis-pressed and directed fans to contact their retailer for replacements.
Taylor Swift fan has gone viral, showing the moment she discovered that her vinyl had been mispressed as a ’90s electronica compilation. The fan took to TikTok, showing how her new vinyl — which was meant to be Swift’s latest album ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ — had been mispressed as an assortment of ’90s electronica. In the footage, the user (who goes by the handle @mischief_marauder), shows off her orchid-coloured vinyl, with the correct Taylor Swift sticker and album sleeve. However, upon her placing Side A on the turntable, the pressing begins playing the opening monologue for ‘True Romance’, a 1994 track by Thunderhead The Word By Eden.Elsewhere in the video, she turns over the record to see if Side B also had the same error — and another rare ’90s electronic song also plays.
