Scotland is set to be hit with snow in just a matter of days, according to new weather maps.
Predictions by WXCharts show purple covering much of the north-west of Scotland on Friday, March 22. This includes areas such as Fort William, Portree and Inverness.
According to the Mirror, as much as 2cm of snowfall is predicted per hour forecast in some parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Pennines and some central areas of Wales will also be hit.
As well as snowfall for Friday, the weekend will also see snow. Further predictions show that more parts of Scotland - edging further south towards Glasgow - will see snowfall from as early as 3am on March 23.
After several days of largely mild weather, James Madden from Exacta Weather said Arctic air from the north is to cause the sudden chilly feel - and warned that snow could begin as early as Friday.

He wrote in his latest forecast: "After a milder week, it will be turning much colder by the weekend, and these colder conditions will also be accompanied by some wintry showers and snow as we progress throughout this weekend and into the following week.
"The first of this wintry weather will begin to make itself known around Friday day or evening as cold winds from the north and wintry showers merge into some longer spells of snow across Scotland, particularly in parts to the west of Scotland."
Talking about elsewhere in the UK he concluded: "Overnight Friday and into Saturday will also see the snow risk heightening across many western parts of the country, from at least Wales upwards and into parts of northern/north-west England.
