A man has tragically died after his motor was hit by a falling tree in Aberdeenshire as the country was battered by 100mph winds.
Emergency services were called to the scene involving a Nissan Navara pick-up truck on the B977 near Hatton of Fintray at around 5.45pm on Friday.
The 35-year-old, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police van which had been responding to the tragic incident was then completely destroyed after a large tree blew on top of it.
