Actor Ronan Vibert, best known for his roles in The Snowman and Saving Mr. Banks has died following a “short illness”.
The 58 year-old's management team confirmed the news after Vibert died in a Florida hospital on Thursday. The exact cause of death has not been specified.
He leaves behind wife Jess Vibert and it is reported that a private family service will be held in the next few days before a wider celebration of his life will take place in London, repots the Mirror.
The Cambridge native lived most of his life in South Wales before securing a place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. He spawned a successful career which saw him work with notable directors across film, television and stage.
With a long list of credits, Vibert first came onto the scene back in the 1990s with several television roles on British TV - such as Birds of a Feather, Lovejoy and Gimme Gimme Gimme and The Buccaneers in 1995 with an all-star cast.
His earlier successes included the miniseries Traffik which served as the basis for the 2000 film Traffic. He went on become a star of the big screen as he appeared in Shadow of the Vampire in 2000 were he was opposite John Malkovich and Willem Defoe.
The following year he was in The Cat’s Meow with Kirsten Dunst and from there in 2002 he starred in The Pianist with Adrien Brody and in 2003 Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Then in 2006 he was in Tristan + Isolde with James Franco.
Other career highlights saw him star in Saving Mr. Banks in 2013 with the drama nominated for an Oscar. Vibert portrayed the publisher to Emma Thompson's Mary Poppins author along with Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti and Bradley Whitford.
