Outlander star Sam Heughan was once hailed a real-life hero after he was forced to make a citizen's arrest on a shoplifter.
The Scots star, best known as dashing Highland Warrior Jamie Fraser in Outlander, never holds back when it comes to going head-to-head with villains in the Starz time-travelling drama.
However, it's not just on-screen the 43-year-old is a knight in shining armour, reports the Express.
Back in 2012, as Sam starred as Batman in the touring production of Batman Live, he was involved in a real-life altercation - where his heroic nature shone through.
A moment away from the stage, saw Sam come face-to-face with a shoplifter at an HMV store, making a citizen's arrest which reportedly lasted for 15 minutes.
At the time, the star posted: "Browsing in HMV. Thief tries to steal DVDs.
“Bouncer stops him. Thief decides to fight bouncer. Then me.
“I threw him, then held him down. I left when cops arrived. Beat that status update.”
Years later, the moment was brought up again after Heughan had started as Jamie Fraser on Outlander, with his on-screen wife co-star Caitriona Balfe.
During a game of “Who knows the other better?” with New York Magazine six years ago, Caitriona was asked: “During his time as Batman, Sam became famous for performing what heroic real-life act?”
She then stated: “You performed a citizen’s arrest?”, which she received a big tick for.
The Claire Fraser star continued: “Some guy was stealing something from HMV?”
The pair then giggled at the thought of it with him confirming: “Yeah I think it was.”
Outlander Season 7 Part 2 premieres in November 2024, over a year after the first half aired its final episode in August 2023.
Outlander is available to watch on Starz.
