Detectives are this afternoon questioning a man on suspicion of murder after human remains were found in a Salford nature reserve.
It's an important development in an case which has caused shock and horror since the grisly discovery was made on Thursday afternoon (April 6).

Emergency services were first called to Kersal Wetlands at 5.50pm on Thursday when a member of the public discovered an 'unknown item' wrapped in plastic near Radford Street.
Tests later confirmed the item was human remains, understood to be part of a torso. Police said it was 'not possible for the victim to have survived' so a murder probe was launched by the Major Incident Team.

An evidence tent was erected in the woods and crime scene investigators in white suits were seen conducting enquiries as police and sniffer dogs combed the area in the grim search for any remaining body parts.
At this stage neither the age or gender of the person was known, but police were confident it was not a child. The news caused shock in the community.
One mother who has lived on a nearby street for 20 years, said: "It makes me feel scared. It's horrible. Who knows who's been near us."
Speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon Chief Supt Tony Creely said the body parts had likely been at the scene for 'a matter of days'. He added: "We do not know the identity of the person or whether they’re male or female.
"We do know, though, that these remains are human, and they would not be possible for them to have survived."
