Actress Joan Collins has paid tribute to her “first boyfriend”, as fellow actor David McCallum sadly died at the age of 90.
The Scottish actor, who starred in the 1960s hit spy drama The Man From U.N.C.L.E. had died of natural cases in New York City, his son Peter announced on Monday 25 September. Following the announcement, Joan took to social media to share a throwback picture with David as she revealed she is “so sad” to hear about his death.
Joan captioned the picture: “So sad that #davidmccallum - my first boyfriend at #rada - has died. A fine #actor a great #talent and a true #gentleman. Loved working with him on #manfromuncle #rip #ripdavidmccallum”.
Joan’s followers also expressed their sadness over David as one fan penned: “That's so sad he was a fine actor he was great in The Man from U.N.C.L.E”, while another said: “Loved David Mccallum, I loved watching him as a child he was my favorite alongside Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton”. David’s son Peter released a statement on behalf of the family where he described his dad as “the kindest, coolest, most patient and loving father”. Peter said: “He always put family before self.
