But Olly's moment under the spotlight received a varied response from viewers who quickly voiced their opinions online.
Taking to Instagram to document the first semi-final, the BBC Eurovision's official Instagram shared a video of Rylan, 35, and Scott Mills, who are fronting coverage of the competition for BBC Radio 2, watching Olly's performance.
