And now, the Duke of Edinburgh, 59, has revealed how Kermit’s appearance sparked fears that another of the Muppets could turn up in the royal seating area too. “Everybody in the Royal Box was nervous when Miss Piggy would turn up,” he said during an engagement on Monday. “There was an empty seat just behind me and we didn’t know who it was for.
“We suddenly thought it could be her and once we started that rumour, everyone around us was very nervous.” Kermit and Miss Piggy sparked huge laughter from King Charles during their appearance at the concert. Miss Piggy described host Hugh Bonneville as a “real Lord” – apparently mistaking the actor for the character he plays in Downton Abbey - which appeared to bring a smile to the King’s face.
