Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece are divorcing after 14 years together . The heartbreaking news confirming the royal couple's split was official announced by the Greek royal family on 19 April.
In the shock announcement from the Greek Royal Family, it was detailed how Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark and Princess Tatiana have made a "heartfelt decision" to part ways.
The Greek Royal Family said the 'difficult' decision was reached "with great care and respect".
The statement also confirmed the Greek Royal Family would "always support" the pair, and also thanked the public for their "respect and discretion" for the couple. The official statement read: "Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana after fourteen years of living together, have decided to dissolve their marriage.
Both express the difficulty of this decision, the deep appreciation and respect they have for each other, but also the love with which they have walked all these years. "The same values of respect and understanding will form the basis of their relationship in the future, a relationship of deep and sincere friendship.
"They will continue to live and work in Greece, a place where they both feel at home.
The family will always be at their side.
Thank you very much for your respect and discretion." The split may come as a surprise to royal watchers as just two months ago, Tatiana, 43, and Nikolaos, 54, put on a united front at the thanksgiving service for Nikolaos' late father, King Constantine, who died on 10 January 2023.
The pair were spotted arm in arm as they arrived at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle for the February 2024 service.
