Under starters orders for day four at Royal Ascot with the fillies and speed merchants taking top billing.
With more female plot lines than a series of Sex And The City, the Group 1 Coronation Stakes (4.20) sees the best of the fillies go against each other, with all of them wearing battle scars from previous duels.
Cachet took the Newmarket 1,000 Guineas clinging on from the fast finishing Prosperous Voyage by a head, with Sandrine, Discoveries and Tenebrism further back. Cachet was then beaten in the French Guineas by Mangoustine a few weeks later with all of these runners reopposing again today. Standing in their way will be Inspiral and Frankie Dettori - who endured a difficult day yesterday - another runner who has fought these before.
Our tipster Garry Owen fancies 16/1 American raider Pizza Bianca (NAP) to top them all and grab a winning slice of the action.
The first Group 1 of the day is the six furlong Commonwealth Cup (3.05), where El Cabello chases a seventh win on the spin, seeking to outpoint proven Group horses like Perfect Power, Ehraz, Go Bears Go and Michael Owen’s Flaming Rib.
We kick off with the Albany Stakes (2.30) for the fastest young fillies, with Mawj being hotly tipped to land the odds for Saeed Bin Suroor. Elsewhere The Queen will aim to improve on two second placed efforts yesterday with Just Right in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes (3.40) - Ryan Moore will be on board looking to add to Kyprios’ stunning Gold Cup win on day three.
We’ll also attempt to find the winners of the two big-field cavalry charges - the Sandringham Stakes (5.00) and the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes (6.10.)
