Rosario Dawson is talking Ahsoka!
The 44-year-old actress, who plays Ahsoka Tano in the series, opened up in a new interview about the process it takes to make her radical transformation into the Togruta warrior.
In a conversation with EW conducted prior to the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike, she explained that playing Ahsoka in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, the makeup process took up to three hours, but has been cut down to 90 minutes.

“We were very proud! We timed ourselves every single day. Depending on how much skin was showing, sometimes it would go up to two hours. And that’s tough: We were going in at 4 in the morning every day so that we could be ready when the crew is there at 6. We’d have a full day, and then it would still take at least half an hour to take it all off,” she said.
The transformation involves being hand-painted with makeup, as well as custom-fitted head tails and icy blue contact lenses. Throughout the process, the crew noticed that certain shades of face paint looked different whether she was filming in natural sunlight or in the Volume, LED technology used to project realistic backgrounds on set.
“It was like, ‘Okay, I look really good in the light, but I’m neon now,’” she said with a laugh.
She also discussed the prosthetics.
“The montrals are longer,” she says of the short, horn-like appendages on top of Ahsoka’s head tails.
“It’s all 3D-printed, and it moves completely differently. It’s lighter. That technology literally didn’t exist when we were first doing the character in Mando, so it’s been really cool to see how it keeps evolving.”
