Residents in a Scots town have been left with no power after a huge huge blaze broke out at an electricity substation.
Fire crews descended on to the incident near Torridon Place in Rosyth, Fife, at 8.39pm today. Two fire engines currently remain in attendance as firefighters battle the flames.
There are no reported injures. Images from the scene show thick pockets of smoke spilling from the ignited substation and into the sky. Locals have been told that they can expect to be re-connected by 11pm tonight.
A Scottish Power spokesperson said: "There is a power cut affecting the KY11 postcode area of Rosyth. We had no advance warning of this and first became aware of it at 8:57pm.
"Our control centre will attempt to restore your electricity supply remotely, and we will also send our next available engineers to the area to find and fix the fault as quickly and as safely as possible. We expect the power to be restored by 11pm. The latest updates can be found on our website www.sp energynetworks.co.uk.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a fire within a electricity substation in Rosyth, Fife, at 8.39pm on Tuesday, April 25. Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, where crews remain in attendance.
"There are no reported injuries."
