Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent REinvent International sales has closed deals on genre titles from its Chills label, including “Dark Windows,” “Leave” and “Shadow Island,” ahead of the EFM. “Dark Windows,” Alex Herron’s English-language horror thriller, has been sold to the MENA region (ENL / Empire Network Ltd) and Latin America (Gussi). The movie tells the story of teenagers involved in a car crash who decide to stay at a summerhouse in the U.S. countryside to work through their grief and start being stalked by a masked man. “Dark Windows” stars Annie Hamilton (The Wolf of Snow Hollow, Inventing Anna), Anna Bullard, Rory Alexander, Joel Saemundsson and Morten Holst.
The company has also closed key sales on “Leave,” Herron’s debut film. The horror thriller sold to Italy (Plaion), Germany (Splendid) and Latin America (Gussi). The movie previously sold to Latin America (Gussi), Falcon Films (MENA) and Hungary (Vertigo). REinvent has also sold English-speaking territories. “Leave” follows a young woman who tries to find her origins after being abandoned as an infant at a U.S. cemetery, covered in satanic symbols.
“Leave” stars Alicia von Rittberg (“Becoming Elizabeth”), Ellen Dorrit Petersen (“Three Wishes for Cinderella”) and Herman Tømmeraas (“Ragnarok”). The movie was penned by Thomas Moldestad, who is behind the hit Norwegian horror franchise “Cold Prey.” “Shadow Island,” which sold to Poland (Media4Fun), is a Nordic noir thriller directed by Johan Storm. The film follows David, an aspiring meteorologist who sets off to a desert island in the Barents Sea and begins to question whether or not he’s really alone on the island. The cast includes Johan L. Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent After securing major distribution deals at the EFM, Luc Besson’s next film “Dogman” starring Caleb Landry Jones, is now eyeing a launch in the festival circuit this fall, Variety has learned. The movie’s French release, initially planned for April 19, has been pushed to the fall to allow distributors to prepare a coordinated global release after a launch at an A-category festival. It would mark the first Besson-directed movie to open at a festival in decades. His wild space opera movie “The Fifth Element” was the opening night movie of the 50th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in 1997. Besson’s first film since his 2019 actioner “Anna,” “Dogman” is rumored to mark a return to form for the French director. Based on the trailer which we saw before the Berlinale, the film will be closer to some of his early work, notably “Subway,” “Nikita” and “The Professional” which were character-driven movies with a darker edge.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Luc Besson’s ”Dogman,” starring Caleb Landry Jones, wowed buyers at the Berlin’s European Film Market, where it was screened for select buyers. “We hosted only one private screening of the completed film and buyers were stunned, they all came out saying that it was Luc Besson’s best film to date, his most mature movie and some even called it a masterpiece,” said Gregoire Melin, founder of Kinology, which is handling sales on the film. On the heels of the screening, Kinology closed deals with some of the biggest distributors in key international territories, including Italy (Lucky Red), Germany and Austria (Capelight Pictures), Spain and Latin America (Sun Distribution Group), Scandinavia (Svensk Filmindustri), Benelux (Belga Films), Switzerland (Elite Film), Middle East (Front Row), Poland (Monolith), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo Audiovisuais), Czech Republic and Slovakia (AQS) and former Yugoslavia (Blitz).
Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert are remembering their late friend. ET's Kevin Frazier spoke exclusively with the couple at home for their couples week interview as they opened up about processing two traumatic experiences back-to-back –- the death of Stephen 'tWitch' Boss and surviving a horrible car accident. On Dec. 12, the couple was involved in a scary car accident and shared an Instagram reel of the incident. According to Erbert, the accident «involved a steep hill, icy roads, a tree, and worst of all, the fear that we would slide off the mountain.» Despite the ordeal, Erbert said there's «so much to be grateful for» given the circumstances.A post shared by Hayley Erbert (@hayley.erbert)The next day, the couple found out their good friend, Boss, died by suicide. “It was after the accident, the very next day we found out, so we were kind of coming off this traumatic experience that was already just, like, heightened.
