They will also join previously announced special guests, including The Chicks, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls — who will be performing at the first show — and James Bay, who will support the rock veteran at the Saturday slot.13 new artists have been named in the announcement, with The Coronas, STONE, Picture Parlour, First Time Flyers, Theo Lawrence and Attawalpa all set to take to the stage at the first show.Newly revealed names supporting the ‘Born In The U.S.A’  icon for the second of the two gigs are Brittney Spencer, Pa Sheehy, Kezia Gill and Kelly McGrath.

The deal “is Universal’s to lose,” two sources said — although Sony Music is said to be waiting in the wings — owing to the company’s longstanding relationship with the group, which signed with EMI in 1972 and remained with the company, which was acquired by Universal in 2011, throughout its career, However, in 1991 it signed a deal with Hollywood Records for U.S. and Canadian recorded-music rights only, which led to a later acquisition by the company of those assets — and therein lies one of the complicating factors.

Based on a central character called Kountry Boi, the “hick-hop” star goes from rags to rap riches while coming to terms with his own troubled past. The idea was developed by Audio Up founder Jared Gutstadt, who played an early instrumental role in the development of real-life genre-hopper Jelly Roll. “Country music is changing, and the new outlaws are defining this town,” said Gutstadt, who is in the process of building a Nashville outpost for his company. “Until now, it was unheard of to have country acts with tattoos on their face who refused to conform to the strict guidelines and cookie-cutter approach of Music Row. This new world has yet to be explored in fiction, and Neon Empire is an expose of this creative, hyperkinetic, and often violent world.
