Queen Elizabeth has sadly passed away at the age of 96.
The monarch died on Thursday (September 8) at her Scottish residence Balmoral Castle, surrounded by her family, Buckingham Palace confirmed.
Now, many mourners are wondering about the details that are put in place as part of “Operation London Bridge,” the procedure following the death of the Queen.

The Queen will be given a state funeral, expected to take place 10 days after her death.
It’s expected to be held at Westminster Abbey, which would make her the first sovereign to have a funeral there since 1760. It is also expected that the Archbishop of Canterbury, senior bishop of the Church of England, will lead the service. Broadcast details are still to be announced.
The Queen is also expected to be laid to rest in a private burial at St. George’s Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
There will be two minutes’ silence across the nation. After a one-hour service, a large ceremonial procession will accompany the coffin to Hyde Park, where it will be transferred from gun carriage to state hearse and travel to Windsor. After a procession through Windsor, a committal service will be held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and the coffin will be lowered into the royal vault.
She will be buried next to her father, King George VI, her sister, Princess Margaret, and Prince Philip, her husband of 73 years.
The United Kingdom will mark a period of mourning in which Queen Elizabeth‘s body is expected to lie in state, and the public will likely be able to pay their respects. More details will come from Buckingham Palace.
