Prince William has opened up and revealed the only sporting event that has ever made him cry, and detailed the important lessons he hopes that sports will teach his three young children. William made the revelation during a surprise appearance on Mike Tindall’s podcast The Good, The Bad & The Rugby, along with his wife Kate Middleton and Princess Anne. During their chat with former England rugby player Mike, and his co-hosts James Haskell and Alex Payne, William said the “only time” he ever cried while watching sport was when his cousin Zara Tindall, Mike's wife, won the European championships.
Prince William said: “The only time I’ve ever cried when watching sport was when Zara won I think it was the European championship.” He continued: “I was down in Exmore at the time camping. She also won individual gold and team silver medals at the World Equestrian Games in 2006 and a team silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Kate also recalled the moment and said: “I can remember because you came back and said, 'I’ve never been so proud of anyone'”.
William also touched on the importance of sports and how he hopes his children will learn while playing sports. Speaking about his children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, William said it is also important to learn how to lose, as well as win, and understand what “you learn from that process”.
