Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK soon, but if he doesn't, one expert says he'll have "some explaining" to do. The Duke of Sussex is due back next month for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games and is set to speak at a special service at St. Paul's Cathedral on May 8.
Royal writer Tom Quinn thinks Harry will likely come back to the UK because not attending the event would highlight his tense relationship with Prince William - and if he doesn't return, it'll be because he doesn't want to face any awkwardness.
Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, he said: "Barring a major upset, Harry will certainly return to the UK for the Invictus games in May it's his baby.
"If he decides not to come, it will take some explaining, because everyone will assume it's because he doesn't want the awkwardness of having to meet his brother or having to choose not to meet him."
Harry and William have been estranged for years and the pair failed to reunite when Harry last returned to the UK in February.
Tom continued: "Not coming would be worse than finding some sort of compromise where Harry sees William for 10 minutes or comes up with some reason why he doesn't have time to see his brother and his father and has to get back to the States quickly to be with his children. But no one is going to be fooled by these excuses."
The Invictus Games could be coming to Birmingham in 2027, as the UK government has put forward a multi-million-pound bid.
Johnny Mercer, the minister for veterans' affairs who is leading the bid, commented: "It feels like a natural rounding of the circle to come back to the UK and we're going to do everything we can to win the bid. "
