An Ayrshire funeral director is offering bereaved families the chance to send a letter to a loved one through a unique post box.
Wilson & Drury Funeral Directors based in Mauchline have launched a ‘post box to heaven’ - a white post box that will allow children or adults to send a poignant message to those no longer with them.
And the first of their touching project has been launched in their home town in memory of a tot who sadly passed away last year.
The first ‘post box to heaven’ will be in dedication to blue-eyed boy Brady Mullen, who died last January just two weeks before he turned two.
Heartbroken parents Michael Mullen 33 and Laura Mullen, 31, have got together with the business who helped lay their boy to rest, in the hope that they can help other families grieve.
Mum Laura told Ayrshire Live: “It’s been over a year since Brady passed and we wanted to do something to remember him, but also support other families who have lost a loved one.
“Brady was our precious blue-eyed boy who we’ll always cherish.
“He leaves behind brother, Michael and sister, Penelope and this gives them a chance to write a message and send it to their baby brother.”
Ryan Wilson, director of Wilson & Drury Funeral Directors believes the idea is the first of its kind in Ayrshire and maybe even Scotland.
And he also adds that you will see them popping up in various cemeteries across Ayrshire currently just now in Mauchline, Catrine, Cumnock and Kilmarnock.
Ryan said: “We thought it would be a nice idea for loved ones to pay their respects in a different way when they visit cemeteries.
“We noticed a young girl had done something similar in England and thought why not do it here.
“It could be for anyone, and we think it will really help the grieving
