Lancashire Police have issued an update into the search for missing mum Nicola Bulley saying that she had 'significant issues with alcohol' which had 'resurfaced over recent months'. The force have issued an updated statement this evening (February 15) saying they have taken an 'unusual step' to release information about her vulnerabilities.
Nicola has been missing for 20 days from St Michael's-on-Wyre with intensive searches taking place of the River Wyre, near to where she went missing. This has been expanded in recent days as searches for the missing mum continue.
Lancashire Police have now released a statement detailing vulnerabilities about Nicola which led to her being classed as 'high-risk' when she went missing. This includes 'significant issues' with alcohol which police say was brought on by 'ongoing struggles with the menopause'. The statement added that this has caused 'real challenges' for her husband Paul and the rest of her family in recent months.

A recent concern for welfare call was made to police on January 10 of this year, which is still under investigation. Police said it is 'unusual' for them to go into this level of detail but did this to avoid 'further speculation or misinterpretation'.
The full statement says: "Our search for missing mum-of-two Nicola Bulley has now entered its 20th day and the work surrounding the investigation is continuing. We continue to comb the River Wyre and surrounding area down and out into the sea. We have also consulted with several national experts in their field, including environmental and tidal experts.
