A driver who had been behind the wheel for nearly 30 years without a full licence has been caught by police.
Officers were patrolling a rural road last night Monday January 24, when they made the discovery after stopping multiple cars in spot checks.
Cops found that one driver had been on the road with a provisional licence dated 1993.
A summons was issued pending further investigations which will be carried out regarding the driver’s insurance details.
PC Tether, of Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team, was on patrol with their colleague PCSO Stevens in the Penketh, Cuerdley, Burtonwood and Winwick areas of Warrington.
Following the discovery the police updated their Twitter page notifying the public, according to Cheshire Live.
The post by Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team read: “This evening I’m out on patrol with PCSO Stevens who covers Penketh and Cuerdley Police Burtonwood and Winwick Police areas to jointly target #RuralCrime #WildlifeCrime #Heritagecrime and #Wastecrime.
“It has been a great opportunity to be shown around by a local officer who has a great geographical knowledge of the area.
“Whilst in the area we have also been focusing on #RuralRoads with numerous vehicles stopped.
“One of the vehicles stopped found that the driver of the vehicle only held a provisional driving licence and had been driving on this since 1993!
“As a result, a summons issued to the driver for the offence of driving whilst not holding a full driving licence and no insurance.
“Further investigation will also be made around the vehicle insurance being void as a result and incorrect details being passed to the insurance company.”
