A house was taped off by police after unconfirmed reports of a 'stabbing' on a residential street in Oldham on Thursday afternoon (June 29). Eyewitnesses told the Manchester Evening News about a group of people fighting before seeing two men 'covered in blood' following the incident.
A section of Meldrum Street, near to the junction with Honeywell Lane, was cordoned off by police for some hours from around 4.30pm with a single house taped off later on into the evening. Residents reported an air ambulance landing near to Alexandra Park around 5pm.
Forensic officers were spotted at the scene while enquiries were carried out. Nearby residents told the MEN that they heard a commotion between a 'group of men' before one shouted that they had been 'stabbed'. Emergency services were then quickly on the scene.

"There were about five or six of them. One guy was saying ‘I got stabbed, I got stabbed’."
Another woman said she heard a ‘commotion’ before noticing two men covered in blood in the street.
"One was saying ‘he’s stabbed me up’. I was a bit shocked.," she said.
"They went down the road and one of them shouted ‘get an ambulance’. All the police came and they cordoned off the street for a good couple of hours.
"It’s absolutely appalling. My grandkids come up here and I would hate to think they saw anything like that."
