Peter Kay made his comeback to live stand-up comedy on Friday, December 2, much to the delight of his fans.
The 49-year old broke down on stage as he received a standing ovation at Manchester's AO arena, at the start of what was his first live stand-up performance in 12 years.
Opening up his 110-day run of shows, the sell-out crowd went wild as the Phoenix Nights star walked out onto the stage. The overwhelming response and applause caused Peter to get emotional, the Mirror reports.
He told the audience: "'Aw you’ll have me in bits. Lovely Manchester you made me cry. I can’t believe I cried, where did it come from all that emotion?"
Fans were delighted when Peter made the announcement of his tour last month, appropriately titled 'Better Late Than Never'.
And, to combat the cost of living crisis, he made the decision to charge only £35 for a ticket - which is the same price as they were back in 2010.
But this gesture wasn't reflected amongst the greedy touts, with Twitter being swarmed with people trying to get £155 for a single ticket to the sold-out shows.
Peter's tour is scheduled to take place from December 2022 to July 2025, although some months have just one or two dates. All of them are scheduled on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and at first, it appeared that there were no venues in the south of England that had been picked to host his performances.
But, after he surprised fans by announcing the long-awaited tour, the comedian announced a London residency at the O2 Arena..
He currently holds the Guinness World Record of the biggest-selling comedy tour of all time, with 2.1 million people going to see him on tour back in 2010.
