British Gas is giving people an extra special gift on Christmas Day by offering customers half price electricity on December 25 through its PeakSave scheme. The extra day of savings comes in addition to the recent extension of its PeakSave Sundays, offering customers half price electricity every Sunday between 11am and 4pm this winter - including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
British Gas has also confirmed that the scheme will now continue to run next year to help households continue to make crucial savings this winter. The discount is available to new and existing PeakSave customers, and all savings will appear as a credit on customers’ energy bills.
PeakSave is available to all British Gas customers with a smart meter that sign up to half hourly reads. To qualify for half price electricity on Christmas Day, customers need to sign up to the scheme no later than December 17, 2023.
Catherine O’Kelly, Managing Director of British Gas Energy at British Gas, said: “The coming months will bring both colder weather and all of the excitement and fun of the festive season. We know many people will be spending more time at home during this period, particularly on Christmas Day, and we wanted to give a little something back to our customers helping them to save on their energy bills while also contributing to a greener grid.
“The results from the scheme so far have been really positive and show that half price electricity on Sundays is helping our customer to save money while also shifting usage away from peak times.
“We expect the benefit of these savings to increase through the winter, as home energy usage goes up, and we hope to welcome even more customers to the PeakSave scheme to take advantage of the savings.”
