British filmmaker Matthew Vaughn (“Layer Cake”) was out and about promoting his upcoming Apple-made spy action pic “Argylle” at the New York Comic-Con over the weekend and dished about a handful of the forthcoming projects in various stages, including what is going on with the “Kingsman” franchise alongside confirming plans are indeed moving along with development for a reboot of his 2010 film “Kick-Ass.” Those tidbits were collected by Deadline, who attended the “Argylle” panel where Vaughn revealed that “Kingsman 3” with Taron Egerton and Colin Firth is still apparently on the books, hopefully before the two of them get too old to make it.

Elsa Keslassy International Correspondent Universal Pictures Content Group has boarded “The Beat of a Nation: Kerouac’s Road,” a feature documentary directed by Ebs Burnough (“The Capote Tapes”) about Jack Kerouac’s seminal novel “On the Road.” Produced by London-based banner Ventureland, the documentary starts filming this week and sees Burnough using the prism of “On the Road” to depict the turmoils of today’s political and cultural landscape in the U.S. Burnough is the former White House deputy social secretary and senior advisor to First Lady Michelle Obama.

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent “The Head,” The Mediapro Studio’s biggest hit, will have a third season, Ran Tellem, TMS head of international content development, confirmed Tuesday at Iberseries & Industria Platino. “‘The Head’ started out something like four years ago as a limited series only for six episodes and now it’s going into third season, so you might say we never lived up to our promises,” Tellem joked on stage at an early Iberseries panel, entitled Creative Content Strategies, where he shared the stage with former Netflix international head Erik Barmack, now at L.A.-based Wild Sheep Content. The Mediapro Studio will produce ‘The Head,’ Season 3 out of Spain.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter “The Alchemist” by Paolo Coelho is set to be adapted for the screen. Legendary Entertainment has acquired the film, TV, and ancillary rights to the acclaimed book, Variety has learned. The company will lead development of a film adaptation along with Sony’s TriStar Pictures and Palmstar, with TriStar set to distribute under their distribution partnership with Legendary.

After several quiet weeks in movie theaters, four films entered wide release over the weekend. “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” came out the top dog, with $23 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday.
