And fans of the 27-year-old are excited to see his transformation after they got a sneak peek on Instagram today after his fan page shared a clip of the Irishman at the gym.
The actor - who was wearing a pair of shorts and Calvin Kelin boxers - was seen lifting two heavy dumbbells as he worked up a sweat.
The video was captioned: "Paul training hard for Gladiator 2."
Fans rushed to the comments section, praising Paul for how good he looked.
However, one of his followers was slightly more subdued, writing: "See now he’s a beautiful fella but I know I am getting old because my first thought was that I hope he is getting good food and rest as well."
Production for the movie began recently in Morocco and has now moved to Malta, with a photo circulating on social media of Paul and actor Pedro Pascal posing together on a beach.
After twenty years of failed attempts, acclaimed director Ridley is finally making a sequel to the Russell Crow classic, which will star Paul, Pedro, Joseph Quinn, Barry Keoghan and Denzel Washington.
