BreAnna Bell “The Holdovers” star Paul Giamatti, Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) and “Rustin” star Colman Domingo were among the stars reacting to their Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations on Wednesday morning. Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani revealed this year’s noms via an early morning Instagram Live video. The awards cycle comes following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, giving the guild a chance to celebrate after spending much of last year on the picket line.
Giamatti told Variety he first learned about his SAG Award nomination while traveling, getting the call while “fumbling” with his luggage. But he still managed to mark the occasion by talking up some of his “Holdovers” co-stars. Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who stars alongside him in director Alexander Payne’s acclaimed film, also received a SAG nomination — after making history of her own with her first Golden Globe win on Sunday.
Domingo said he received the news of his nomination after finishing morning workout. “I have my ringer off and of course, turned it on and there’s so many messages. I was so overjoyed.
I’m literally walking down the street in New York, where I’ve treaded the boards as a younger actor, and it’s fun to be respected by my peers more than anything,” he told Variety. The 30th SAG Awards will be globally live-streamed on Netflix on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 5 p.m.
