Myke Towers Signs With Brandon Silverstein’s S10 Entertainment for Management: ‘His First Global No. 1 Is Just the Beginning’

Thania Garcia Nearly four months after its release, Myke Towers’ “Lala” (One World/Warner Latina) has become the Puerto Rican rapper’s first-ever global No. 1 single. The track, which sonically borders pop and reggaeton, has been on the ascent on social media and across DSPs in the last week despite the fact that it was released as part of Towers’ 23-song “La Vida Es Una” album way back in March. The song experienced an increased and unforeseen popularity after going viral on TikTok, and while it is virtually impossible to predict what will happen next, Towers has plans to make the most of the boost in tandem with entertainment executive Brandon Silverstein.

Tom Cruise ‘Working Diligently’ on His Next Movie Shot in Space: ‘We’ll See Where We Go’

Jordan Moreau Tom Cruise is still preparing to boldly go where no actor has gone before. He and his “Edge of Tomorrow” director Doug Liman are set to film a movie in space and make Cruise the first civilian to perform a spacewalk. Universal is backing the film, which has a budget of around $200 million. When asked about his space-set movie at the “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” premiere in New York on Monday, Cruise said he didn’t have a production start date set, but, “We’ve been working on it diligently and we’ll see where we go.” Of course, Cruise still needs to finish making “Dead Reckoning Part Two,” the potential finale of his “Mission: Impossible” series, before he can plot his next movie. Writer and director Christopher McQuarrie, who’s overseeing both “Dead Reckoning” movies, said he and Cruise are getting right back to work on “Part Two” as soon as the “Part One” press tour ends.

Why Michael Cera Wasn’t Included In The ‘Barbie’ Cast Group Texts

Michael Cera‘s super bad old phone prevented him, albeit slightly, from forming an even stronger bond with the cast of Barbie. All good though. Cera says his character in the film would have probably kept a distance anyway.

Oscar De La Hoya on Travis Barker Raising His Daughter Atiana: 'He Stepped Up to the Plate' (Exclusive)

Oscar De La Hoya said he has «nothing but respect» for Travis Barker after one of his Instagram followers — during an «Ask Me Anything» session — asked the boxing great how he feels about the Blink-182 drummer raising his daughter, Atiana De La Hoya. Now, for the first time since offering the succinct laudation, De La Hoya is opening up like never before to ET about not raising his kids, extolling the mother of his children and elevating Barker for being an admirable father figure to Atiana, whom De La Hoya shares with former beauty queen Shanna Moakler. In a wide-ranging conversation in San Antonio, Texas, ahead of the premiere of his two-part Max documentary,, De La Hoya found himself at peace admitting he was, for lack of a better word, an absentee father, and he's now, as he says, giving «credit where credit is due.»«Look, I didn't raise my kids, you know? Their moms did. And I have to give credit where credit is due,» De La Hoya tells ET.

Jenni Rivera’s Son on Finishing the Mexican Icon’s Posthumous ‘Misión Cumplida’ Album: ‘I Know We Did Her Proud’

Thania Garcia The release of “Misión Cumplida,” an album comprised of unreleased material sung by the late Jenni Rivera, had been deeply anticipated ever since it was first announced last year. After all, the Long Beach native, also lovingly recognized as” La Diva de la Banda” (The Diva of Banda), was well on her way to becoming a global star when she died in a plane accident in 2012, leaving millions of fans mourning in the years that followed. That anticipation only grew as the album was postponed for months after its original release date. Though the Rivera estate, now led by the late Mexican-American singer’s daughter Jacqie Marin Rivera, apologized for the delays, there was “just no way we were going to release it if it we didn’t feel 100% on it,” says Johnny — Jenni’s 22-year-old son, and the project’s executive producer.

From Taylor Swift to Pearl Jam: ‘The Bear’ Producers on How They Crafted Season 2’s Sizzling Soundtrack

Emily Longeretta Just as it did in its first season, “The Bear” Season 2 created a powerful soundtrack, thanks to executive producers Josh Senior and Christopher Storer, who also oversee the series’ music. From Otis Redding and Pearl Jam, to R.E.M. and Taylor Swift, the duo were able to tell a story of itself through the needle drops — something that is just as important to them as the writing itself. When the writers room began, the group made a playlist and started sharing ideas with others on the team and even some of the actors, with Senior noting that Ayo Edebiri “is super helpful” in the entire process. “It’s the most fun thing we get to do on the show, in my opinion. It’s a blast,” says Senior. “Sometimes we take all the songs out and see if we miss them. Other times, we use the songs to syncopate the scenes and cut them really fast. It’s an integral part of the process. We don’t score the show after it’s cut.”

Alan Arkin Tribute: While Gracious Enough to Let His Co-Stars Shine, He Was Consistently the Most Memorable Character in Any Film

Joe Leydon Film Critic The reaction was always the same. During my high school days, I must have seen “Wait Until Dark” five times during its theatrical release. Audrey Hepburn was appealing, of course, but the main attraction for me was Alan Arkin’s chilling portrayal of a psycho sadist who, in the course of reclaiming a misdirected heroin shipment, terrorizes a blind woman in her apartment. Late in the 1967 thriller, the distressed damsel temporarily gets the upper hand by stabbing her tormentor. But as she walks away, the psycho leaps back into her kitchen and grabs her ankle. And every time he did this, every time I saw “Wait Until Dark,” people in the audience (including me, the first time) screamed. Really, really loudly. Like, louder than the folks around me in a theater seven years later during the first jump-scare in “Jaws.”

For Burned-Out Touring Musicians, Mindfulness Helps (No Matter How Much the Term Makes You Roll Your Eyes)

Ryan Dusick Ryan Dusick is an associate marriage and family therapist, a mental health advocate and an author whose book, “Harder to Breathe: A Memoir of Making Maroon 5, Losing It All, and Finding Recovery” (BenBella Books), is out now. He is a writes regularly about wellness for Variety.       The term “mindfulness” was a big turn-off to me for about the first hundred times I heard it. As a classic over-thinker most of my life, I figured the last thing I needed was to become more “mindful,” or to concentrate harder on the things that were causing my anxieties. Over-thinking, perfectionism and obsessive-compulsiveness contributed greatly to my breakdown as the founding drummer of Maroon 5, and my solution to most problems had been to try harder. These attempts at control, however, were just piling more pressure on top of the many challenges we were facing during our four-your touring campaign in support of “Songs About Jane.”

The Sound of ‘Ozark,’ ‘Picard’ and ‘Cobra Kai’ Explained by Score Mixer Phil McGowan

Jazz Tangcay Artisans Editor As Emmy voting comes to a close, score mixer Phil McGowan could find himself with multiple nominations, having worked on the sound of Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Picard,” Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” and “Ozark,” and Roku’s “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.” He spoke with Variety about his approach to each project and what needed to be taken into consideration to preserve the sonic integrity in his mixes. “This season was bigger and more maximal than previous seasons, but there wasn’t a big sonic shift. However, each episode is like a movie. Composers Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson approach it like it’s another ‘Karate Kid’ film. There are guitars, a drum kit, drum machines and lots of percussion. They use a lot of samples that are reminiscent of the 1980s and ’90s. So, I have fun applying mixing techniques with reverb that blends ’80s hair metal and ’90s pop music along with big orchestral symphonic sounds on the show.”
