Outlander star Lauren Lyle has a brand new role that's taking her miles away from Frasers Ridge.
The Scots actress, who is best known for her role as Marsali in the hit Starz historical drama, is set to star in an all-female shark survival thriller. The Glasgow-born actress will star in Something In The Water alongside Hiftu Quasem, Natalie Mitson, Nicole Rieko Setsuko and Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart.
Lauren, 29, has most recently starred as DS Pirie in the ITV drama Karen Pirie adapted from author Val McDermid’s novel The Distant Echo. Although the Vigil actress is used to filming emotional scenes in Outlander opposite Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, her new project will see her far apart from the time-travelling fantasy.
Filming for her upcoming thriller is currently underway in the Dominican Republic and is set to be directed by Justice League and Star Wars: Episode VII art director Hayley Easton Street. The movie will follow a dream wedding which turns into a nightmare when five girlfriends must fight for their lives in open water.
Lyle took to Instagram to share a snap from the location after she headed to the Dominican Republic to film the movie. In view of her 218k followers, Lyle photographed the crystal-clear sea and towering palm tree on set, simply captioning the snap with a shark emoji.
DirectorHayley Easton Street commented: “This is an elevated survival film, unlike anything else I’ve worked on, with incredible strong female leads at the heart of the story. Something In The Water will be an emotional and visual experience, putting the audience at the centre of the action and using seamless VFX to bring the terror to life.
"I couldn’t be more excited to helm this movie,” she concluded.
