The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations.
The organization behind the Academy Awards announced 395 invitations on Thursday (July 1), and there are some pretty big names on the list.

After a number of years of over 800 or 900 new members, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took a more conservative approach for 2021. This year’s class featured just 395 new Oscar voters as The Academy aims to keep the overall membership under 10,000 over fears of the institution losing some of its luster, among other concerns.
Oscar winner Yuh-Jung Youn, who took Supporting Actress in April for Minari, along with a number of her recent fellow acting nominees including Maria Bakalova, Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby, Leslie Odom Jr., Paul Raci, and Steven Yeun, are among the new class of 395 artists and executives who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
