Olly Murs moved The Voice fans to tears on Saturday as he performed an emotional tribute to his late friend Caroline Flack. The singer, 38, was close friends with TV presenter Caroline, who tragically passed away in February 2020. During Saturday night's show the audience began cheering for Olly, who is a judge on the hit ITV show, to perform for them.
"Do you know what," Olly said as he picked up a microphone. "I’m going to do a classic song, it’s not one of my ones, obviously they’re classic right! "I want to dedicate it to having you lot back, and also I want to dedicate it to my friend Caroline Flack." Announcing his song choice, Olly then added: "It’s called Sweet Caroline and it goes like this," before breaking into song. The 38 year old urged the audience to sing along, and his fellow judges, Sir Tom Jones, 82, Anne Marie, 31, and Will.i.am, 47, also joined in.
As his performance came to an end, a teary-eyed Olly blew a kiss and pointed towards the sky. Viewers at home were left in tears at his emotional tribute, with one person tweeting: "Olly singing for Caroline Flack I’m in tears," while a second added: "Caroline Flack will be looking down and smiling at this Olly". A third viewer said: "Olly singing Sweet Caroline and dedicating it to Caroline Flack had me in tears".
"Olly Murs dedicating sweet Caroline to #carolineflack was so beautiful," penned another The Voice fan. Olly shared a close bond with Caroline, with the pair hosting both The X Factor and The Xtra Factor together. He opened up about his friend's tragic death earlier this year, telling The Daily Star: "God bless Caroline.
