O.J. Simpson has passed away following a battle with cancer.
The former NFL player passed away yesterday, Wednesday 10 April, in Las Vegas, as confirmed by his family on his X account.
The star died at the age of 76 and his family broke the news via social media on Thursday. A statement read: "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. -The Simpson Family." The star was previously said to be undergoing chemotherapy amid a battle with prostate cancer.
His tragic death is also thought to be confirmed by his attorney to TMZ. O.J. was dubbed as one of the greatest running backs of all time after spending a decade in the NFL playing for both the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.
It was reported back in February that he was in a hospice as he battled prostate cancer. However, O.J. was quick to shut speculation down and posted on social media.
In a video, he said: “Hey X world, hospice? Hospice? You talking about hospice?. “No, I’m not in any hospice. I don’t know who put that out there.
“I guess it’s like Donald [Trump] says, ‘You can’t trust the media'," he continued. "In any event, I’m hosting a tonne of friends for the Super Bowl here in Las Vegas. All is well, you know.
So take care, have a good Super Bowl weekend.” However, O.J. had previously revealed to fans that he had battled cancer and had undergone treatment, but later went onto explain that he ‘beat it’ and was ‘happy and healthy’. O.J.
