North Korea fires two missiles shortly after US-South Korea drills conclude

The members of K-pop band BTS will fulfil their mandatory military duties under South Korean law, their management company has said. Big Hit Music said the band’s oldest member, Jin, will revoke his request to delay his conscription at the end of the month and undertake the required conscription steps.

Hybe’s BigHit Music has announced that the seven members of BTS will enlist in full military service in South Korea after more than two years of debate over whether or not they should be granted an exemption.In a statement issued this morning, the label says: “BigHit Music is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfil their military service. After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030 [this weekend], and as each individual embarks on solo endeavours, it’s the perfect time and the members of BTS are honoured to serve”.The oldest member of the group, Jin, will be the first to enlist in the military after he completes promotional activities for his recent solo album later this month.Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men must begin serving around two years in the military at some point between the ages of eighteen and 28.

Raleigh, North Carolina, officials held a press conference early Friday after an alleged juvenile gunman shot and killed five people, including an off-duty police officer, and wounded two more. The young gunman opened fire near the Neuse River Greenway area in Raleigh just after 5 p.m., officials previously said.

Google has announced a new range of Chromebooks that are “built for cloud gaming,” just two weeks after killing its cloud gaming service Stadia.The laptops in question, the Acer Chromebook 516 GE, Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook and Asus Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip, are “built for cloud gaming” – a brag that Google Stadia can no longer make.Each of the laptops have refresh rates of at least 120Hz, up to 1600p resolution displays, immersive audio and WiFi 6 or 6E connectivity. They will also come with GeForce Now preinstalled and will support Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna and Google Play.

Beyoncé is vehemently denying Right Said Fred's claims that she sampled their «I'm Too Sexy» hit in her «Alien Superstar» track without permission.In a statement to ET, Bey's rep says that «the comments made by Right Said Fred stating that Beyoncé used 'I'm too Sexy' in 'Alien Superstar' without permission are erroneous and incredibly disparaging.»The rep added, «Permission was not only granted for its use, but they publicly spoke of their gratitude for being on the album. For their song, there was no sound recording use, only the composition was utilized.»A week before Bey dropped  earlier this summer, the English pop duo's verified Twitter account acknowledged that «it's nice to get a writing credit on the new 'Beyonce' album.»The rep went on to say that Beyoncé's team asked Right Said Fred's publisher for permission on May 11, «and the publisher approved the use on June 15, 2022.» What's more, «they were paid for the usage in August, 2022.» And, furthermore, «the copyright percentage of the Right Said Fred writers with respect to the use of 'I'm Too Sexy' is a substantial portion of the composition.

North Korea fired an unspecified ballistic missile toward the East Sea on Thursday morning local time, just two days after Pyongyang sent an intermediate-range ballistic missile flying over Japan, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.  About 40 missiles have been launched by North Korea this year, including six in the past two weeks, but Tuesday's test marked the first time in five years that the country has sent a missile over Japan.  The U.S. and South Korea staged joint drills on Wednesday in response, with the USS Ronald Reagan moving into waters east of South Korea.
