‘No Sudden Move’: A Thrilling Yet Thoughtful Throwback From Steven Soderbergh [Tribeca Review]

When we talk about fast, prolific filmmakers that are able to get a film made in a short amount of time and never sit around and let years go by without a new feature, we often talk about Steven Soderbergh, for example. However, you could argue that no one is as prolific or as fast as filmmaker Hong Sang-soo.

When Steven Soderbergh first announced his next film, “Kimi,” with Zoe Kravitz for HBO Max — the one that’ll arrive after “No Sudden Move,” which is being released today, not much about it was known. It was dubbed a mystery thriller, written by veteran screenwriter David Koepp, and about an “agoraphobic tech worker that stumbles on some evidence of a violent crime over the course of a routine work project.” Intriguing but still slightly vague.

There might be a new Oceans movie on the way, according to Don Cheadle.

Curt Goynes, a two-bit criminal just out of jail, needs cash and lands a seemingly easy payday at the beginning of “No Sudden Move.” All he has to do is detain a family in their home at gunpoint for three hours and then he can walk away with $5,000.
