EXCLUSIVE: Another This Is Us alum is joining series creator Dan Fogelman‘s new Hulu drama. Gerald McRaney, who played the beloved Dr. K on the NBC family show, has been tapped for a recurring role on the untitled series, headlined by This Is Us star Sterling K. Brown.
Nicole Brydon Bloom is set as a series regular opposite Brown, James Marsden, Julianne Nicholson and Sarah Shahi, with Krys Marshall, Charlie Evans and Jon Beavers added as recurring.
McRaney and Brown are two of three This Is Us actors to win Emmys for their performances, along with the late Ron Cephas Jones.
The premise of Fogelman’s new drama has not been revealed but it is believed to revolve around the President (Marsden) and his Secret Service detail led by Brown’s character.
McRaney will portray Kane, the father of President (Marsden), a captain of industry and kingmaker.
Bloom will play Jane, a young secret service agent who considers Brown’s character a mentor/father-figure.
Beavers is Billy, a fellow secret service agent on the President’s detail and one of Sterling K. Brown character’s best friends.
Marshall will play Agent Robinson, a lead secret service agent and professional rival of Sterling K. Brown’s character.
Evans will portray Jeremy, the President’s son, a thinker and dreamer who does not think much of his father’s political career and motivations.
As previously revealed, Nicholson’s character is a political force/power player behind the scenes, while Shahi plays a therapist to those in power with secrets of her own.
The series, produced by 20th Television, is executive produced by Fogelman, Brown, Jess Rosenthal, John Hoberg, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Steve Beers.

Jordan Moreau Peter Weber, known as Pilot Pete to Bachelor Nation, became the second person to trade in the “Bachelor” mansion for the Scottish castle of “The Traitors.” Weber joined Season 2 of Peacock’s competition series as a Faithful, someone who is covertly working to sniff out the three Traitors within the cast and banish them out to take home the cash prize. The “Bachelor” leading man follows in the footsteps of Arie Luyendyk Jr., who was a Faithful in Season 1 and nearly made it to the end of the game. Halfway through this season, Weber put a major target on his back by going after the Traitors (“Big Brother” star Dan Gheesling, “Survivor” queen Parvati Shallow and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” icon Phaedra Parks).

Prior to American Fiction, Sterling K. Brown was best known as Randall Pearson in the long-running, award-winning NBC family drama series This is Us. The part that director Cord Jefferson was offering him couldn’t have been more different: in Jefferson’s adaptation of the satirical novel by Percival Everett, Brown plays Clifford ‘Cliff’ Ellison, a caustic plastic surgeon and brother to the film’s protagonist, Thelonious ‘Monk’ Ellison (Jeffrey Wright). After divorcing his wife, Cliff comes out as gay, further estranging him from his uptight family. This nuanced role allowed Brown to explore the many facets of Blackness and the challenges of the LGBTQ+ community.
