Peaky Blinders spin-offs are in development at Netflix, according to reports.As reported by Bloomberg, the company is planning two spin-offs based on the British gangster series, which came to an end in 2022 after six seasons.One of these shows is said to be “set in Boston during the middle of the 20th century”, a couple of decades after Peaky Blinders. The other, meanwhile, is believed to be centred around Shelby family matriarch Polly, who was originally played by the late Helen McCrory.The only confirmed continuation of Peaky Blinders on-screen is an upcoming sequel movie, written by the show’s original creator Steven Knight.Speaking to Radio Times recently, Knight said filming on the movie should commence in the middle of 2024.“I’m just working on the final bits of it at the moment,” Knight said.

Barbie has topped a list of the top-trending Google searches across the year in movies.Greta Gerwig’s film, which is the highest-grossing movie of the year, came out on top of Google’s year-in-review 2023 lists for movie search data in the US and globally.The lists, released on Monday (December 11), track queries that had the highest spikes in traffic over a sustained period this year as compared with 2022.Unsurprisingly, due to the Barbenheimer phenomena, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer placed in second across both lists.

Tom Waits made a rare public appearance this week to honour actor Nicolas Cage.The singer-songwriter presented Cage with a lifetime achievement prize at the SFFILM Awards Night in San Francisco, California on Monday evening (December 4).Waits’ participation in the event had not been announced prior, and his presence prompted “gasps” and “wild applause” from those in attendance, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.After taking to the podium at the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts, the musician spoke about how he and Cage have known each other since the Oscar-winner was a teenager working for Waits as his driver.“He was the same as a teenager. It was troublesome for his family and other people around him,” Waits joked in his speech.
