Nicola Sturgeon's sister has posted a cryptic message after the former First Minister was arrested earlier today.
Shortly after the 52-year-old was taken into custody by police, her younger sibling Gillian shared a picture which read: 'Sometimes there are no words'.
Many were quick to link the message to her sister's arrest with comments of concern flooding in.
Earlier today Police Scotland detectives announced they had taken Sturgeon in for questioning in connection with the ongoing probe into the funding and finances of the SNP.
As the investigation is ongoing police say they are unable to comment further.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 52-year-old woman has today, Sunday, June 11, 2023, been arrested as a suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.
"The woman is in custody and is being questioned by Police Scotland detectives.
"A report will be sent to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
The former first minister’s arrest comes after her husband and former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell was arrested in April.
MSP Colin Beattie, who was the party's treasurer at the time, was also arrested as part of the investigation.
Both men were released without charge pending further inquiry.
