New figures released by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) show that by December 12, some 8.3million second means-tested cost of living payments had been made to eligible households across the UK. This includes 7.3million to those on qualifying benefits from DWP and a further one million to people in receipt of Tax Credits from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
DWP Minister Mims Davies MP said that the vast majority of DWP claimants in receipt of means-tested benefits who were initially eligible for a cost of living payment have received it. However, a process is now in place for those who believe they are eligible and have not yet received a payment to contact DWP and once eligibility is confirmed payment will be made as soon as possible.
Anyone who becomes eligible through retrospective awards of benefits will be paid through planned automated payment exercises through to March 2023.
It’s worth noting that people can no longer use the online dedicated page on GOV.UK to report a missing cost of living payment from DWP, however, they can still use the service to find out who to contact.
Guidance on GOV.UK states: “We're no longer taking reports of missing £326 and £324 payments online, but you can still use this service to find the right contact details for your low income benefit.”
Anyone who believes they should have received the £324 payment from HMRC in November should contact HMRC on 0345 300 3900. The lines are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.
If you were expecting one of the following Cost of Living Payments but have not received it, you can use the GOV.UK page to find out who to contact:
