During his time on Australian soap, Neighbours, Mark Little played the iconic Joe Mangal, who had a relatively clean-cut appearance. In contrast to his character, who had short dark hair and no facial hair, the 63 year old appeared unrecognisable in a recent TV appearance. Speaking on the BBC's cricket talk show, View from the Boundary in the UK, Mark had a considerably more rugged appearance with wavy long grey hair and a new bushy beard. After resurfacing on TV over the weekend, the Brisbane-born soap star, who now lives in Wales, was compared to the likes of Top Gear's James May, and even former UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
One Twitter user penned: "Amazing. Mark Little looks like James May." Mark played lovable Joe from 1988 to 1991, with a return for four months in 2005, but he chose not to renew his contract in 1991 and went on to seek other opportunities. This comes after Mark, who took part in Dancing on Ice in 2019 with Brianne Delcourt, appeared in a surprise cameo on Neighbours last year. Unable to go to Australia to film an on-set cameo, the actor joined Harold Bishop, played by Ian Smith, for a video call scene, prior to the announcement that the soap would come to a close after 17 years.
Since Fremantle Media announced Australia's longest running drama series would cease production, Amazon Prime Video has rebooted the show. A year after Neighbours was axed, the soap’s stars reunited in April as filming commenced on the brand-new series. Legends of the soap, Ryan Maloney, Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburn, Rebekah Elmaloglou and Stefan Dennis will all be resuming their roles on the series.
