James Bond Novels Edited to Remove Racist Content

Naman Ramachandran After the Roald Dahl text editing controversy that erupted in recent days, it is now the turn of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels to be rewritten. A report in U.K. newspaper The Telegraph reveals that ahead of the reissue of the Bond novels in April to mark 70 years of “Casino Royale,” the first book in the series, rights holders Ian Fleming Publications Ltd commissioned a review by sensitivity readers. Each book will carry the disclaimer, “This book was written at a time when terms and attitudes which might be considered offensive by modern readers were commonplace. A number of updates have been made in this edition, while keeping as close as possible to the original text and the period in which it is set,” The Telegraph said.

Chris Cuomo: ‘I Was Going to Kill Everybody Including Myself’ After CNN Firing

Zack Sharf Chris Cuomo revealed on a new episode of the “Open Book with Anthony Scaramucci” podcast that he “was going to kill everybody including [himself]” after CNN fired him in 2021. Cuomo and CNN parted ways after the anchor got caught up in the sexual-harassment scandal that engulfed his brother, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo. CNN found that Chris Cuomo aided his brother’s team of officials on the matter, and he was ousted as a result. Cuomo has long maintained that CNN knew of the counsel he was offering his brother. “I had to accept [my firing] because I was going to kill everybody including myself,” Cuomo told Scaramucci. “Things can consume you. Italians are so passionate. There is damage that is relatable, there is damage that is un-relatable to people that I have to deal with, that I am working on.”

Mosaic Theater’s ‘Bars and Measures’ Review: Caged Bird

Bars and Measures (★★★★☆), in a gripping Mosaic Theater production, metes out its clues and secrets with well-measured slowness, as Bilal, in solitary confinement, awaits his next court hearing. He stays loose and lucid by practicing his bass in his head, his hands running up and down the imaginary fingerboard. We hear the music as he plays, while, behind him, light strips lacing the cracks in the concrete walls pulse in time to the tune. His abject physical confinement and resilient creative mind are vividly captured in the blend of scenic design by Paige Hathaway, spry lighting by John D.
