Joe Otterson TV Reporter NBC has ordered a drama pilot from Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs. The project is titled “Grosse Pointe Garden Society.” The official logline reads, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.” Bans and Krebs serve as writers and executive producers on the pilot. Bans will executive produce under her Minnesota Logging Company banner along with Casey Kyber.
Universal Television, where both Bans and Krebs are under overall deals, will produce. “Grosse Pointe Garden Society” was originally put into development at NBC back in 2022, while the network opened a writers’ room for the series in 2023. Bans is best known for creating the NBC series “Good Girls,” starring Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman.
The show aired for four seasons at the broadcaster. Bans’ other credits include creating the ABC series “The Family” and for working on shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “Desperate Housewives,” and “Private Practice.” She is repped by UTA and Yorn Levine Barnes. Krebs first collaborated with Bans on “The Family” before also joining her on “Good Girls.” He has also written for shows like “Workaholics,” “Franklin & Bash,” “Ugly Americans,” and “No Tomorrow.” He is repped by UTA, Entertainment 360, and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Beta Cinema has revealed further sales on its Berlinale and Europe Film Market lineup, including “500 Miles,” “Führer and Seducer,” “Hammarskjöld,” “The Light” and “From Hilde, With Love.” After a first deal on the upcoming Bill Nighy-roadmovie “500 Miles” with True Brit Ent. for U.K. was announced during the market, Beta Cinema has confirmed further territories have picked up the dramedy: Australia and New Zealand (Kismet), Middle East (Front Row), Italy (Maestro Distribution), Benelux (September Film), Greece (Feelgood) and former Yugoslavia (Discovery).

NBC has handed a series order to The Hunting Party, a high-concept crime procedural from JJ Bailey, The Endgame co-creator Jake Coburn and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. The pickup was teased by Universal TV President Erin Underhill in her Q&A with Deadline about the studio’s drama procedural business.

Per the official logline, “The Hunting Game” is “a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.” “The Hunting Game” is produced by Universal Television. Bailey, who is under an overall deal at the studio, created the series and wrote the pilot.

The Chicagosand the Law & Orders all opened their new seasons up by double digits in both total viewers and adults 18-49 from their final four episodes last season. The premieres of FBIs and Equalizer ranked in the Top 13 most watched primetime programs the week of Feb. 12, all up or on par with the most recent episodes last season.

Woodard joins previously announced series lead Jason Clarke in the show, as well as cast members Haley Bennett, Dominic Cooper, Simone Kessell, Tait Blum, and “Reservation Dogs” alum Dallas Goldtooth.
Prime Video has handed a series order to Benito Skinner’s Overcompensating. The series, which has been in development at Amazon since November 2022, hails from Skinner, who also stars, Jonah Hill’s Strong Baby productions and A24. English singer-songwriter Charli XCX will produce original music for the series, which is co-produced by A24 and Amazon MGM Studios.

The series, currently titled “El Gato,” will be shot in both English and Spanish. Diego Boneta is attached to star, with Eric Carrasco adapting the comic book for the screen.
