Former United winger Nani came up against his old club with Melbourne Victory on Friday night when he came on for a late cameo, having recently joined the A-League team. Nani was teammates with Ronaldo for two years at United and they played together for 11 years in the Portugal national team. Nani has tried to speak with Ronaldo but only received a short reply.

"When he’s on vacation he doesn’t answer the phone to anybody," Nani said. "I tried to talk to him, but he said: ‘I’m so busy now, we’ll talk soon’.
"I hope (he stays). He’s an important player and a player who always makes a difference. I hope he’s in a good mood to help the club, so hopefully."
Nani won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup and the League Cup during his eight years with United and he was cheered warmly by both sets of fans at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
David de Gea is the only existing United player on their tour who played with Nani, who left the club for Fenerbahce in 2015. Nani is eager to return to Old Trafford, where he never played following his departure.
