Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could get his wish should Cristiano Ronaldo leave Manchester United this summer.
New United boss Erik ten Hag couldn't clarify when the 37-year-old would report for pre-season training as they embarked on their tour of Thailand and Australia. The Manchester Evening News understands that inactivity in the transfer market and a salary reduction are among the issues that have convinced Ronaldo to try and seek a move away from the club.
However, potential suitors for Ronaldo have been in short supply as Paris Saint-Germain distanced themselves from the Portuguese star. Atletico Madrid became the latest team linked with a move, however, fans of Atleti launched an angry Twitter campaign in response.

Klopp revealed he wasn't happy about the five-time Ballon d'Or winner returning to Old Trafford last summer. And he had cause for concern as Ronaldo set the Premier League alight following his sensational return.
"Am I happy that he is at United? No, I can't say that," Klopp told Sky Sports. He was then asked if he was too good a player, to which he replied: "Yes, unfortunately.
"I was surprised, not about United, him going in there in the end, but when I first heard the rumours about him wanting to leave Juventus. I had no idea about that.
"I am not in the Juventus circle when people inform me from time to time about what is going on there, so I was surprised about that. He was going to [Manchester] City and I thought 'oh, that could be fun for United' and then, obviously, United stepped in and did it. It's all fine. It's a free world and they can do what they want."
