Nancy Ward Named Executive Director Of Visual Effects Society

Jaclyn Philpott has been named executive director of the Association of Film Commissioners International – a newly created post that she’ll assume on January 3. As the new leader of the organization, she succeeds former AFCI President Eve Honthaner, who stepped down in September for personal reasons.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the Oscar shortlists today and the Visual Effects and Sound categories saw some surprises. While films such as “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “NOPE” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” were expected in Visual Effects, “Thirteen Lives” was not.
