Myles Stephenson has spoken out about Liam Payne's accent after a clip of him speaking on the Will Smith versus Chris Rock showdown went viral. While former One Direction star Liam offered his thoughts on the shocking altercation at the Oscars when asked during an afterparty, most viewers were distracted by his unusual voice. And now Rak-Su star Myles has admitted that 28 year old Liam isn't new to altering his accent and "used to change his voice on the X-Factor".
Speaking on Capital Xtra's Tea Time podcast with Will and Yewande about Liam, Myles, 30, said: "He's done that to me before. He changes his voice." He continued: "When we [Rak-Su] was on X-factor, he was performing, and after we were walking past, he said hello - we don't speak with much etiquette. "He's come up to us and said, "yes, bruv, what are you saying?" On Sunday evening, Liam confused fans as he spoke about Will punching Chris at the Oscars on Good Morning Britain.
He was asked about the moment Will hit Chris on stage after he made a joke about his wife, Jada, before then shouting: "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth." However, Liam's voice ended up distracting viewers. "I'm going to be honest with you, Will Smith actually used to live behind my house," he began. "I actually know his son and daughter very well.
We did Men in Black 3 with him. He continued: "I believe whatever he felt that he did, he had the right to do. I also felt that there were three losers in one fight, he didn't know being Chris Rock, he didn't want to do what he had to do being Will Smith and she did nothing being Jada." Viewers soon shared their thoughts on Liam's unusual twang, as one tweeted: "Watching @GMB and what the hell has happened to Liam Payne's accent?!'
