On Friday, Apple TV+ dropped the trailer for the new music competition series “My Kind of Country”, executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves.

“‘My Kind of Country’ is a fresh take on a music competition series, breaking down barriers in country music by providing an extraordinary opportunity to diverse artists from around the world,” the the official description reads.
“Scouts Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton and Orville Peck each hand-pick a roster of exceptional up-and-coming artists and invite them to the home of country music in Nashville, Tennessee, to showcase their unique sound. The winner will receive a life-changing experience from Apple, including global exposure across the Apple TV+ and Apple Music platforms.”
In the trailer, Witherspoon and Musgraves explain the impetus behind the show.
“We got together a long time ago. We were talking about how country music should stop limiting people and start opening doors,” Witherspoon says. “It’s music brought over from all over the world.
“The bluegrass, the folk, the gospel. There’s so many threads woven through country music,” Musgraves adds.
Along with introducing the three celebrity scouts, the trailer also lets country fans meet some of the contestants drawn from across the globe, including countries like Mexico, India and South Africa.
